The Loft is a top floor, self catering apartment in the chocolate box village of Maria Alm, in the heart of the Hochkönig skiing area. This is one of Austria’s best kept secrets with over 150km of skiing, 39 modern lifts and 37 mountain restaurants.

The apartment block is located approximately 10 minutes walk from the town centre of Maria Alm. Opposite the apartment is the Hinterreit ski area which is a race track. The British and Austrian ski teams often train there.

This offers virtual doorstep skiing. It has beginner/intermediate runs with 2 restaurants, a ski school, a kindergarten area and even a half pipe. Click here to see photos of the area.

There is a fantastic view of the Hinterreit area from the the Loft balcony.

The apartment location gives easy access to THREE separate areas:

• Maria Alm's ski areas (Hochkönig's Winterreich)-See below

• Zell am See and Kaprun -The Kaprun glacier is only a 30 minute drive away and this can offer all year round skiing. Click here for directions from the apartment

In the town centre is the Natrun ski area. This is mainly a beginner/intermediate area but serves to link up to the main ski area of the Aberg (2000m) which has a large selection of blues, reds and blacks. You can also catch a ski bus to the Aberg from outside the apartments.

From the Aberg you can connect up to Hinterthal, Mulbach and Dienten. With very little British tourists and hardly any lift queues, you only need to take a look at the piste map for this area to realise that this is one huge unspoilt and undiscovered gem.
